The Secret Reason Michelle Won Project Runway (And Why You Should Care)

I'm interested in how people interact with each other so I loved this past season of Project Runway. They made the designers work in teams. None of them were happy about it and I don't blame them. Creativity is a Leo thing. It's tied to the ego.

You're on Project Runway, because you think you're talented. You're all psyched up to show your stuff, and then you're informed that you'll have to share the stage.  Each designer groaned upon hearing the news. And each of them reacted differently.

Layana behaved immaturely and could not accept criticism well. She cried backstage when she felt that Daniel didn't give her enough credit for his garment even though her input was minimal. And in her final challenge, she refused to accept the judges' critique of her terrible dress design.

Stanley was a consummate control freak. He didn't want input from anyone and he also seemed to think the other designers were beneath him. He berated Tu's precision when Tu was his assistant, diminishing him completely. Ironically, Stanley needed a boatload of help during the show's finale. He got it, but it was not enough to save him. The control freak had done himself in.

Only one of the designers could be swayed but not overwhelmed by another person's input.  That was Michelle and she fared the best. Her team lost the first three challenges, but she survived. They moved her to the other team for the fourth challenge and her team lost again!

But Michelle hung in there. She thought about every criticism and reacted to it without giving up her design identity. For example, in the final challenge when it was winner-take-all, Tim criticized her "bleeding heart" sweater for not being cohesive with the rest of her outfits. She included the sweater in her collection anyway, and the judges lavished praise on it. She also partnered well and because of this, she won.

The designers who could not collaborate were dramatically hindered.  It was almost painful to watch. It seems the ability to work with others is necessary to achieve at the highest level.

I prefer to do things with others because the end result is better than when I work on something alone. I also like social interaction. I like to exchange energy. I do not like the idea of being shut up in a vacuum with me, myself and I, for this simple reason: I don't think I know best. I am only going to go so far on my own and that's it!

If this resonates with you and you feel you're weak in this area, it would be worthwhile to put forth some effort to learn to play well with others.

Astrology can help in this regard. It allows you insight into another person, but it also shows you how two people will relate (synastry). For example, I was once partnered with a man whose Mars squared my own. We couldn't even harness our energy to move a couch without someone getting banged up!

If the two people choose to collaborate (in a business, or a marriage or whatever), the composite chart describes their combined project.

If you want to get further in life, it's worth looking into this. I offer synastry (relationship) reports (relationship) reports, composite reports, and a discount if you buy both..  Stop thinking about how hard it is to get along. Start thinking about how important and valuable it is to get along and see where this takes you.
