He was a funny guy. "Affable" is the word I want. He was clever and had a way
of expressing himself that entertaining and instructive. He told me once, everyone wants to be a big deal to someone.I thought this was true and also interesting because it's the opposite sign, Leo, that wants to be a star. He also drove a corvette.
Anyway, he was having a birthday party. I was looking for a card in a Hallmark store and came across these party decorations that said, "LORDY, LOOK WHO'S FORTY!" I was amused by this at the time. I bought a
bunch of stuff for him.
Plates and napkins, sure. But I also bought a banner for the house and signs that you could post on the roads that led to his house where the party was being held. Can you imagine this? I really meant well, but what a maroon!
I posted the signs all over. You could fill in the name on some of them, which I did. Happily. Gleefully. It never occurred to me he might not like this. The
man liked everything and everyone, all the time.
It turned out, he did not like turning forty! Oh man. When I got to the party, he was brooding. It was no party at all, it was a WAKE! I was informed that I caused the problem!
I am a bit smarter now. And thinking about this yesterday, as I wrote for the client, it gave this idea about a "Birthday Package".
I know now that
many people feel low, the month before their birthday, any birthday. It's generally contemplative time before the renewal that comes in with Solar Return aka your birthday.
It prompted me to this combo pack together -
What's My Year Ahead Look
Like? I think it's a great idea on a number of levels. I realize this is like laughing at my own joke, which I also do, but I'm serious about this.
Let's say you're feeling bad, heading into your birthday. Something like this, distracts you in the moment. It also subconsciously communicates, you're moving forward. There is a future for you, which these report describe. This is likely to be effective in pulling you out of any swamp you might be
stuck in. It's a light at the end of the tunnel - the Sun!
Beyond that, it's a gift that lasts all year. It starts out one thing and grows into another. That's a real gift!
Think about doing this for yourself or for your friend or family member. But whatever you do, don't go to Hallmark and buy road signs that inform legions of people who might drive by, one of your friends is turning forty! Not by best
hour!
