I
work with a lot of people who have relationship problems. This is a specialty of mine.
Sometimes I'll tell a client, "You're too old for that. You're too smart. Do you really have time to make the same mistake(s) one more time?"
Most of them heartily agree. They do not have time. They are too old. They are too smart to belly up to the bar and repeat their trauma one more time.
They're relieved to have someone state it in plain
language. Because their friends who tell them time after time and year after year that they're perfect and deserve perfection have not helped them in reality.
I give them a problem, but this allows them to solve it. It's hard to fix something that doesn't exist!
Some clients do get pissed. They get angry into next week, next month, next year or forever. This does not make me wrong. It just makes them
stuck.
